Tumble Dryer Wash Care Symbols Explained
You’re probably all too aware of the necessity of a good tumble dryer when you live in the UK (especially here in Canterbury!)
Drying your laundry outside is great, but it’s just not a reality for the majority of the year.
During the colder months, many people still fear putting their favourite clothes in the tumble dryer, in case it shirks your laundry down to children’s sizes.
Now most of us want to be able to wear smaller clothing, but having it forced on you is less than ideal.
This issue is actually a lot easier to get around than you may have thought, because most of your laundry comes with “wash care symbols”.
The only issue is trying to decipher what they all stand for…
So below is a quick explanation of what each of these icons mean.
Which Wash Care Symbols are for Tumble Drying?
Here in the UK, every tumble dryer symbol will be a variation of a circle inside of a square. This is to make it easy for us to know straight away what the symbol is referring to.
So what do they all mean?
- A square with an empty circle inside it – means you can dry the garment in the Tumble Dryer.
- A square with a circle inside it and 1 dot – means you can dry the garment on a low heat setting.
- A square with a circle inside it and 2 dots – means you can dry the garment on a high heat setting.
- A square with a circle inside it that’s crossed through – means you cannot tumble dry this garment.
Always make sure to follow these guide lines closely to avoid damage to your laundry. There’s nothing worse than ruining your best shirt because of a lack of understanding.
